Walleye pike in the 2 to 4 pound range are
plentiful and can be caught all summer using
live bait or a variety of artificial lures. Stringers
of walleyes like the good old days become a reality.
Light gear works best. Northern pike, found in weedy
bars and off rocky points, range from 6 to 30 pounds.
Lake trout from 5 to 35 lbs. will be found by the more
patient fishermen in the deeper portions of the lake.
Whitefish can be caught on light gear particularly in
the spring.
Because Smoothrock is fed by four major rivers and
dozens of smaller streams, it offers some of the best
July and August fishing to be found in Ontario.
