PACKING FOR YOUR TRIP TO SMOOTHROCK CAMP

Bring Food and Beverages: Please pack cold food in small coolers, thanks.

Remember that no fresh potatoes or apples can cross the border, you can bring bagged fresh potatoes however. If you need to buy groceries in Thunder Bay there is a Safeway on the corner of Highways 11 & 17 and Red River Road. Take a left and it's right there.

Personal Gear:

Life jacket/sleeping bag/ pillow slip

Fishing Gear:
Rods/reels/rod tube
Fillet Knife/sharpening stone
Dip net/minnow bucket/stringer
Fish towel for the boat/tackle box

Handy Items:
Compass/Matches
Bug repellent/Coils
Camera/extra film/batteries
Rolaids/Benadryl
Flashlight/Paper & Pencil
Chapstick/hand lotion
Playing cards/cribbage board
Small cooler for the boat.

Please try to avoid the giant Bazooka fishing tubes as the biggest models won't fit onto a Beaver. Thanks.

IMPORTANT PACKING INFO:
The weight limit for each person is 125#. This adds up much faster than people expect. Please be thoughtful with your packing - for example: no container should weigh more than 60#. Use two smaller boxes or two smaller coolers instead of one big one. All your gear has to be lifted up and onto a floatplane, and we want to make sure it will fit. Coolers shouldn't be any longer than 2 feet. We sure thank you.

WHAT ABOUT……?
Fishing Licenses - we have them at Smoothrock Camp.

Ice - Bagged ice is available at Smoothrock Camp.

Bait - You can buy bait at the Bait Express on Highway 61 just after you cross the border or the Silver Minnow on Highway 527, or we can have bait for you - just let us know what you want. You can buy great frozen ciscoes at Buck's Conoco in Grand Marais.

Boat Seats? Each boat has two mounted swivel seats.

Each camp has a propane grill.
