! Smooth Rock Camp Location

The Thunderhook Floatplane Base is located 5 miles south of Armstrong Station, Ontario. Most people travel north to Duluth, Minnesota then Take Highway 61 North to the border at Pigeon River. Then, Provincial 61 to Thunder Bay--take Highway 11 & 17 to the other side of Thunder Bay. Turn left onto Highway 527--Our base is 150 miles north. There are no services at all along 527 so have a full tank of gas!

If you're coming from upper Michigan or northern Ohio you might want to cross the border at Sault Ste Marie and cross over the top of Lake Superior.

LOCAL AIRSTRIP: Just north of Armstrong is a 3,800 foot airstrip. There is no phone or services there but it's an excellent strip. If you plan to fly your own plane you must make arrangements with us so we can pick you up.
