The Team
Thunderhook Fly-Ins and the Smoothrock Camp are proudly owned and operated by David and Tucky (Einarson) Dill of Crane Lake, MN. David a current member of the Minnesota House of Representatives and businessman has worked extensively in the aviation and tourism industry since he was a young man. David and Tucky created their own commercial air charter service catering to the fly-in fisherman’s needs across the United States and Canada. After finding success in the aviation world, they sold their business in 1982. Tucky, daughter of Hall of Fame Pilot Francis Einarson began a new career teaching, while David continued focusing his efforts on the tourism industry as well as public service. Today, David and Tucky along with their son Drake, a Commercial Pilot and college student, welcome you to Thunderhook Fly-Ins and the Smoothrock Camp, where every trip is the trip of a lifetime.
If you have taken a trip with Thunderhook before, chances are you have bumped into, been helped, or chatted on our dock with Rudy. Rudy is the highly knowledgeable and energetic familiar face that most Thunderhook customers have met over the years. Rudy has a long history of working with fly-in fishing clients from across the U.S. and Canada while he owned and operated his own fly-in outfitter several years ago. After moving on, Rudy began working for Thunderhook in 1996 and has been with our team ever since. Rudy, a native of Northern Ontario knows exactly what makes a successful fishing trip work, and is an extremely important part of making sure you receive the best fly-in fishing trip on the market today.
Don “Donny” Plumridge is our chief pilot here at Thunderhook Fly-Ins. Donny’s flying expertise dates back over 30 years and 22,000+ flying hours. Flying since he was a young man for his own fly-in outpost camps, Donny quickly learned the ways of the Wabikimi. Donny is also an avid moose hunter and fisherman, be sure to ask him for tips before being dropped off at your outpost!
