Ontario Lake Trout Fishing
Ontario is one of a few locations around the world with the highest population of Lake Trout! While they can range from 24 to 36 inches on average, 15 to 40 lb. fish are not uncommon. Lake Trout are very elusive and tend to stick to deeper bodies of water making them difficult to find. They generally stick to depths near the bottom which can require downriggers for a successful catch.
There are many different techniques to catch these huge fish, and both artificial and live bait can be successful. The most common lures are silver spoons, Mepps spinners, floating Rapalas, and anything with a flashy presentation.
